Busy

I haven't posted much this week I feel like I've been going non-stop.  My oldest son is in 2nd grade and on what they call a "modified calendar." It's just like year-round.  He goes for 9 weeks than gets 2 weeks off.  This is his first year at this school/on this calendar.  He is currently on week 1 of track out.  I still have class every morning so he's been going to my neighbor's house to play with her boys (same calendar but different school) while I'm in class and of course Hayden still has preschool every morning as well.  So instead of picking up Hayden and coming home to get homework done, I'm picking up Hayden and coming home and having to referee between the two boys because heaven forbid they play nicely together (they do on the weekends!)

Next week Deqlan will be out again but I will be on fall break starting after my morning class Wednesday :-) All that is standing in my way is two quizzes and one test.  I have to do amazing on the test (it's for Biology) and I currently have an F in that class.  I have to get a C in every class this semester or I don't qualify for Financial aid next semester.  All of that stems to having a really rough year last year.  When my Aunt passed in September I didn't put as much work into my Math class that I was taking online so I failed it (turns out I didn't need that class anyways-what a waste of money) and then Spring semester I had to drop a class when we found out CJ would have to go through radiation treatments (I'll post about his medical issues next week when I have a little bit more time!)

Deqlan has three baseball games next week (Tues-Thurs).  They have to make up a rain out from the first game of the season.  He loves playing baseball but its frustrating for me to watch the coaches kid who has no clue what hes doing continuously get to play 2nd base while Deq gets stuck in the outfield every game.  I hate baseball politics even though I've been around it my whole life.  Especially after practice on Sunday where he was at 2nd the entire practice.  They lost their game Tuesday night which was hard for them since it was their first lost.  They hadn't played a game in almost two weeks but the boys didn't listen to their base coaches which cost them two runs.

I have lots of laundry that needs to be caught up on and I'm a little concerned that my dryer is starting to go.  I really hope it's not because we aren't planning on replacing it until we can afford to replace the washer as well (I want front loaders!)

Time to get the boys up and ready for the day

xoxo,
Megan

Scarf Swap & the weekend

I participated in Meredith @ The Tichenor Family's 4th annual scarf swap.  I was paired up with Mary Adelaide (who actually doesn't live far from me!)  I got my scarf in the mail Thursday & wore it Friday :-)

Not the best picture but it was taken at 6:30am before my husband was up to help :-) Its a very pretty blue and green knit infinity scarf from Old Navy.  Love it!! Thank You so much Mary Adelaide!!!!

We had a fairly busy weekend which we haven't had in a few weeks.  Saturday the boys had league in the morning and then a birthday party to go to that afternoon (it was 3 hours long) I was ready to get to my parents for dinner and relax!!! Yesterday morning I woke up not feeling well so I took it easy in the morning before I headed to the grocery store.  Deqlan had baseball practice for two hours yesterday afternoon-they normally only  have one hour practices but it was absolutely gorgeous out so it didn't bother me too much.  Then me and the boys headed to my parents for dinner while CJ went and bowled.  We normally go with him but I have a Spanish test this morning so I wanted to stay home and study-not that much studying actually got done!

I should be out of class a little bit early today so I need to run some errands (UPS store to ship my fall swap package that I forgot at home Friday!, Old Navy to try some skinny jeans-we'll see how that goes, Target & the bank).  I really want some cute shoes for fall-boots and loafers/flats-but am having a very hard time finding cute affordable ones that actually fit my feet.  I have ridiculously wide feet which makes shoe shopping next to impossible :-(

I'm off to get a bit of studying done before I wake up Hayden.  We don't have to be out the door quite as early for the next two weeks.  Deqlan is tracked out so I don't have to get to his school at 8:10 to wait for them to open the doors :-)

Have a great day everyone!!

Angels

One year ago today my aunt passed away from complications caused from a brain surgery. It's been a long and hard year since she passed and I wish she had been here to help talk me through everything. She lived in New Hampshire and I hadn't seen her in almost 9 years but we were still incredibly close. I was her only niece. I wish she could have met my boys. She loved them & talked to her friends about them ALL the time. They sought me out at her visitation to make sure I knew how special we were to her. I knew today was going to be tough but I didn't realize how tough. I've been in tears all morning.

Hope you are enjoying heaven Auntie Sue. I know you are looking down on us!!

It's OK

Its Ok Thursdays
  • to be annoyed that my husband never came to bed last night.  Last he said was "I'm going to get a drink do you need anything?" I responded with no can't promise I'll be awake when you come back up "can I change the channel" and I woke up at 4:45 this morning to the tv on the channel I fell asleep too with my husband LOCKED in the bonus room...wtf
  • to be thankful that Wednesday night labs are short nights (like an hour instead of 3!!)
  • to not want to go bowl tonight...my heart just isn't in it right now
  • to be dreading Spanish this morning (I really want to stay home but we have a test on Monday so I need to go!!)
  • to wish tomorrow never comes.  One year ago tomorrow my aunt passed away from complications due to brain surgery.  Her surgery was in July and she had swelling on the brain causing two strokes and multiple seizures.  Her body just couldn't fight it.
  • to not want to come home after class because that means I have to help finish cleaning out the garage (which was horrible now that I see all of the trash CJ found!)

Long days

  • I knew going into the semester that I was going to hate Monday and Wednesdays.  I underestimated how much I would hate them.  I woke up this morning ready to be back in bed tonight after class :-(  I am ready for the semester to be over even though we still have 12 weeks left! I am so ready to not be taking night classes!!!
  • I wasn't confident on the quiz we took in Spanish on Monday and my grade showed, I got a very low B.  I shouldn't be upset about it but it is my lowest grade I've received in that class.  She drops the lowest quiz grade at the end of the semester so I just need to make sure to do better on the rest of the quizzes.  We have a test Monday so I will be studying for that all weekend!!
  • Deqlan was supposed to have a baseball game last night but due to some crazy storms and tornado warnings it was cancelled which means he doesn't have another game until next Tuesday.  The coach is going to try to get a practice together for Sunday since last Sunday's got rained out.
  • Speaking of the tornado warning yesterday.  Right after CJ left to get Deqlan from school my brother called to tell me a tornado was spotted in the town next to us (where Deqlan goes to school) and was heading in our direction.  We don't live in big towns and we are right on the border of the towns so Hayden and I headed down to the half bath to have a light show since we had no power.  Thankfully nothing hit us and there was only slight wind damage.
  • We were only without power for about an hour and 15 minutes.  Any longer and we would have been heading to my parents ( 4 miles up the road & they had power)
  • Today's high is only 67...which means I had to go searching for jeans for Hayden to wear.  Thankfully someone bought him a pair for his birthday and they fit so he was good to go.
  • I have to leave early this morning to go put gas in my car and hopefully by then the accident on the highway I take to school will be cleared up.  Traffic looks miserable out there right now-thankful I have an hour and fifteen minutes before I'm on that road!
  • I hope everyone has a great day!!!
Love,

Megan

Randomness

  • Hayden is going back to school today :-) That one day to stay at home and rest with Daddy really did his body good.  Hopefully he's on the track to kicking this cold!
  • He's super excited to get to stay at school for Lunch Bunch today & tomorrow.  Which means I get an extra 30 minutes to get some things done in town :-)
  • One of the things I'll be getting done today is shopping for my Fall Swap partner Jess @ Pretty Physicist (you should go visit her!)
  • Of course I said I would do homework at a nearby restaurant while he was at Lunch Bunch but there's always tomorrow ;-)
  • Deqlan has a baseball game tonight but it's supposed to storm (pretty bad) off and on all day today.  I hope it doesn't get rained out...I can only go to Tuesday night games :-(
  • I took my first Biology test last week and was completely unprepared for it.  I knew going in I wasn't going to do well and I knew after I finished I had failed and sure enough I bombed it.
  • Yesterday was the first quiz in Spanish that I didn't feel confident about and that annoys me.  I understand the stuff in class for the most part and then I get home and just feel lost! I will definitely be working with my dad this weekend on it for our test Monday!
  • I feel like the kids fresh out of high school in my Spanish class have royally pissed off our teacher and for that she's been giving us a crap-load of homework.  Grow up people.
  • I'm hoping my financial aid refund comes in this week...I could use that extra money to get some things done!
  • My Birthday is in 3 1/2 weeks :-) Which means that my brothers is in 9 days and I have no clue what to get him.  I already got my Mother-in-law's present for her birthday that's in 11 days.  And then my dad's is 6 days after mine and my sister in law's is 4 days after his.  See I need my refund!!!
  • Hubby is still on vacation this week.  He's supposed to be organizing the attic and cleaning out the garage-he did nothing at all yesterday even once I got home to watch Hayd.  He better get to work today.  He'll have to do the attic since it's supposed to rain!
Love,
 Megan

Show & Tell

1. Tell us what kind of student you were in high school {popular, nerd, sport obsessed, choir, etc}.
Not too popular, but not a nerd.  I found different groups to hang out with every year.  Freshman year I hung out with my middle school friends, sophomore year I hung out with the drama and chorus kids, Junior year I did sports med so we hung out with the athletes, and my senior year I hung out with the popular kids.

 2. Share with us some high school pictures. We know you have them somewhere.
The closest picture I have on my computer from high school.  This was my sophomore year of high school (I'm on the left in the sweater).  This was Hurricanes Opening night with some of my friends.  My brother took me for my 15th birthday.

 3. Tell us about your school. Private? Public? How many in graduating class? Mascots? School colors?
Public.  East Wake High in Wendell, NC.  We had probably close to 300 kids if not more in our graduating class.  We were the only high school for the Eastern part of our County at the time.  We are the Home of the Warriors and we bleed blue & gold :-)

 4. Tell us about some of your favorite memories of high school. Or what stands out the most? Any teachers? Specific classes?
I was a lucky one.  I had my favorite teacher twice.  I had her my sophomore year of high school and my senior year (Biology & Anatomy).  Not that I liked the classes but I loved her.  She didn't put up with my crap (although she did cover for me once with my dad!) Graduation was amazing.  I ended up with an eye infections and refused to wear my glasses to graduation so my best friend (who thankfully was sitting next to me at graduation) had to help me walk to the stage.  My eyesight is bad guys :-)

 5. Tell us a piece of advice you would pass on to your children or any child entering high school.
Enjoy each and every minute of it.  It goes by entirely too fast.  Don't sweat the small stuff.  That girl that stole your boyfriend, she won't matter to you in 5 years and neither will that boy!

Monday

All I want to do is crawl back into bed and go to sleep!! I didn't get up til 6 (an hour after I was supposed to), it's raining, and my oldest is already driving me crazy!! I really don't want to go to Biology tonight but I must...I skipped my lab Wednesday night to spend time with CJ's family so I don't need to miss anymore classes unless ABSOLUTELY necessary!!

CJ is still on vacation this week which means we will hopefully be getting the garage cleaned out and attic organized.  Both desperately need to be done.  I want to be able to find all of our Christmas decorations this year.  Plus all of the boys old clothes are up there in containers and now that Hayden is getting bigger it's time to find some fall clothes for him up there!

Hayden came down with a nasty cold this weekend.  Welcome back to school.  I just tried to wake him up to get ready for the day and he refused.  At least CJ's home so I don't have to miss class this morning (we have a quiz and she doesn't let you make them up).  Hopefully letting Hayden stay home and rest will help him feel better so he can get back to school tomorrow.  He only went to preschool 2 days a week last year.  He's going all 5 days this year, since I have a Monday-Friday morning class.  He seems to be loving it so far but he is definitely tired!!

We had a nice relaxing weekend.  They don't happen too often for us.  We took the boys to league Saturday morning and then spent the afternoon at my parents house.  Yesterday we got some laundry and prep work done for the week and relaxed before CJ bowled last night.  Deqlan was supposed to have baseball practice yesterday afternoon but it got rained out.  Thankful for the rain my dad planted some bushes Saturday so I didn't have to go out and water anything :-)

I hope everyone has a great day! I'm off to take Deqlan to school and head to class myself!!

Sunday Social

Sunday Social
I'm linking up with Neely at A Complete Waste of Makeup for Sunday Social :-)
1. 5 items you can't live without on a daily basis(water, food, shelter, and clothes dont count)
My iphone, my Erin Condren life planner, my wallet,  my BOYS, & my crystal light :-)

2. All time favorite book? Why?
The Shopaholic Series from Sophie Kinsella.  I love series and I read this whole series while pregnant with my youngest.  It helped keep my mind off of some things that were going on at the time.
3. Something you'd like to accomplish before the end of 2012
Hit 45 pounds in weight loss!! I started last October and my goal is to be at 30 pounds at the one year mark (middle of October).
4. If you could go back and relive any year of your life which year would it be?
My senior year of high school.  I would try to enjoy each and every moment with my girlfriends.  I miss them so much and didn't get to enjoy my senior year as much as I should have because of BOYS!
5. What do you wish people knew about you without you having to tell them?
That I got pregnant at 17 and no it wasn't planned.  Stop acting like it's the end of the world.  I don't know where I would be without him in my life.  He definitely saved me from the downward spiral I had started down.

A day in my life!

People often seemed surprised at my daily life. I often get told "I don't know how you do it!" And truthfully I don't know how I've been doing it recently. Life has definitely been challenging since the first of the year!!

Since the middle of August my day consists of me getting up at 5am (sometimes 5:30 if I've been up late studying) to get ready for the day. I shower then head downstairs to get a few small chores done...I'll empty the dishwasher, clean up any dishes, pack the boys lunches & book bags, take out something for dinner, start a load of laundry, and put out the boys breakfast. All of that only takes me about 15 minutes. Once I finish that I head back upstairs to dry & flat iron my hair and do my makeup & get dressed. Once I'm ready I sit and either relax and catch up on blogs or get some studying in while the boys are still asleep. My oldest gets up at 7:15 and I wake up my youngest about 7:30. We have to be out the door by 8:10 to be one of the first cars in carpool so Hayden gets to preschool on time! Once both boys are dropped off I head to school as well. I have a Monday-Friday class from 10-10:50. I get to school about 9:15 and spend 30 minutes studying and catching up with my friends while we wait for class to start. Once I'm out of class I run whatever errands need to get done I can't pick Hayden up until 12:10 so I have quite a bit of time to get things done and there are major stores (target, kohls, best buy, office max, & home depot) all near Hayden's school.

Hayden and I head straight home for lunch and homework time for me. I am very thankful that Hayden is a lot like Deqlan was and will keep himself occupied with toys in his room or the bonus room while I get some homework done!! We have to leave at 3:15 to pick Deqlan up and then we head back home to get Deqlans homework done. Depending on the day of the week we either have baseball games (Tuesday & Thursday's) or I have class that night (Monday & Wednesday's) or we have league (Thursday). So until the middle of October the only night we are home during the week is Friday!!!

So far I've been able to stay on top of my school work for my on campus classes but my two online classes have taken a serious hit!! I plan on spending this weekend catching up and hopefully getting ahead a little bit. We typically only have work due one day a week in both of those classes so it would help greatly if I could get caught up or ahead!!

I'm looking forward to a low key weekend. Our company goes home tomorrow afternoon. I can't wait to have a home cooked meal even though Fridays are usually breakfast for dinner nights. It'll taste way better than the junk we've had the last two nights!!

Hope everyone is having a great week!!

Life

I love having family around, but usually it's my family thats around.  So to have my husband's family around right now is sort of driving me crazy.  We ended up having everyone over for dinner last night, we just ordered pizza.  But considering we didn't get home from D's game until 7:45 it was 8:45 before dinner was actually here and the boys are usually in bed by 8:30.  I have no clue what the plan for today is.  The boys both have school, Hayd gets out at 12.  I have class this morning from 10-10:50 and I'm not going to my lab tonight.  Hopefully we can get out to do something entertaining today but not too expensive (dinner was $55 last night!!)

On a different note, I signed up for Birchbox & MyGlam.  My first Birchbox is on the way and I'm so excited!! MyGlam should ship next month :-) Can't wait to try out some new products!!!!

I have to get the boys out the door and to school so we are all on time...Have a great day!!

9.11.01

Somethings you never forget.  I can remember exactly where I was when I heard the news 11 years ago.  I even remember what I was wearing.

I was a Sophomore in high school...worried about my geometry test that morning.  First class went fine and even my second one did (we started class at 7:15am).  Word didn't break until 3rd period which was drama.  We were working in our groups sitting in the hallway when the drama 2 teacher came in and grabbed our teacher and they headed to their office where they turned on the tv and closed the blinds.  Once they had an idea of what was going on we all gathered in one classroom to watch the news.  I was terrified.  At the time they hadn't said what airlines were hijacked and all I knew was my Aunt was a flight attendant and was more than likely working that day.  The school made us continue to go to classes even though no one was thinking about learning.  But sure enough we still took our geometry test while watching the news.  I remember watching the 2nd plane hit.  When the first plane hit we all thought it was an accident but once that second one hit you knew something horrible was going on.

Where were you that September day?

Monday

Weekdays tend to be crazy around here and they will get even crazier this week.  I have a morning class Monday-Friday and both boys have school.  Deqlan is in 2nd grade & Hayden is in preschool.  I drop both of them off on my way to class and then run errands after class before I pick up Hayden at 12:10.  So today after I get out I need to run to Kohls to return a couple of things & then head to Target and pick up a few more groceries for our guests that are arriving late today.  I'm still trying to decide if I will stay up to say hi to them (they don't land til midnight and I get up for the day at 5!) We'll see what time I get out of class tonight.  By the way, I will not take night classes again! This schedule I made for myself sucks!! Especially since Fall ball games start tomorrow night.  I'm not home M-Th nights!

Have a great day!

Busy Weekend

Most of our weekends are pretty low-key since my husband works the majority of them.  But he is off on vacation for 17 days (and already driving me crazy).  Yesterday morning we took the boys to league and then split up...DH & the boys headed to my parents house & I headed out with my parents to get some new crape myrtles for our backyard (they are gorgeous!!) I love spending time with my parents and we are very lucky they are only 4 miles down the road from us!!

When I was still working Saturdays (I recently quit my job to go back to school full-time) they would keep the boys while we were both at work.  My boys love them and ask to see them every single day.  My parents stay very involved in the boys activities.  My oldest plays baseball and does swim team, they are at every game & every meet unless they are out of town.  Same goes for their Saturday morning league.  They are there every week.

Today I've been up since 7 getting stuff ready for the week.  Lunches are made, Hayden's clothes are laid out for the week, muffins are made, and the bonus room is cleaned and ready for our guests that are arriving tomorrow night! We are heading out for the day to see my brother & sister-in-law for a family meeting and lunch :-) They are going through the adoption process and want to update everyone (both sides of the family) at one time with where they are and what steps are next.  Then we're gonna head to the mall for a little shopping before back to the bowling center :-)

Have a great Sunday!

Intro :-)

I blogged years ago on Xanga (when it was sooo cool!) and miss it terribly.  I've tried doing this a year or so ago and life got in the way...Here we go again :)

My name is Megan.  I will be 26 one month from today.  I have two boys (ages 7 & 3) Deqlan & Hayden.  I've been married to my husband for 7 1/2 years.  He's had some health issues in the last 2 1/2 years that have really shown me to live life to the fullest.  I am a full-time college student & mom so needless to say "free time" doesn't really exist anymore! We are a family full of bowlers, it is something I have done since I was 2 years old & wouldn't know what to do without it.

Can't wait to "meet" some wonderful new friends!!
